飛鳥歴史公園館(あすかれきしこうえんかん)
The information centre for the Asuka Historical National Government Park.
This is the information centre for the Asuka Historical National Government Park. It is about 10 minutes on foot from Kintetsu Asuka Station, at the entrance to the Takamatsuzuka Area.
The Asuka Historical Park is not in one place; it is split into five areas: Takamatsuzuka, Ishibutai, Amakashi Hill, Iwaido and Kitora Kofun. They lie several kilometres apart, so getting a picture of what is where at the start makes exploring much easier.
Photo panels, a relief model and videos introduce the historic sites and history of Asuka.
The relief model shows at a glance the terrain of the whole village and where the sites lie in relation to one another. You can grasp the layout of hills, valleys and rivers that is hard to read from a flat map.
The centre has been closed for renovation since 1 April 2026, and is expected to reopen around 2028 (according to the notice posted on site). During the work, you can still walk to Takamatsuzuka Kofun and the Takamatsuzuka Mural Hall as usual.
About 10 minutes on foot from Kintetsu Asuka Station. Admission is free.
Takamatsuzuka Kofun and the Takamatsuzuka Mural Hall are a short walk from here. Stopping by before you start exploring Asuka makes it easier to plan your route for the day. Opening hours, closing days and fees may change, so please check the official information before you go.
