飛鳥びとの館(あすかびとのやかた)
The tourist information centre at the Asuka roadside station. A good place to start exploring.
This tourist information centre is part of the "Michi-no-Eki Asuka" roadside station, just by Kintetsu Asuka Station.
It is the natural starting point for exploring Asuka on foot, and many visitors stop here first.
Staff can tell you about museums, restaurants and places to stay, and help you plan a sightseeing route.
It sells day passes for the Asuka loop bus (the "Kame Bus") and can point you to bicycle rental and taxis. Asuka's historic sites are widely scattered, so whether you walk, rent a bicycle or take the bus makes a big difference to how your day goes.
You can also book a volunteer guide here, and souvenirs are on sale.
About 1 minute on foot from Kintetsu Asuka Station.
Takamatsuzuka Kofun and Kitora Kofun are both within walking distance. For the centre of the village, where Ishibutai Kofun and Asuka-dera Temple are, a bicycle or the bus is a better choice. Opening hours, closing days and fees may change, so please check the official information before you go.
